Cape Kiwanda Engagement Session | Lauren and Colby
This sweet sweet couple and I both showed up early to the session, so we got to hang out for almost 3 hours! I love that I get to be friends with my clients. Learning all about their vision for the wedding day and the stories behind their love story (like the incredible story behind Lauren's ring later in this blog). It all helps me do my job better on the big day. This is why I encourage (or get down on my knees and plead) all couples to do an engagement session with their photographer before the wedding. I know it's not comfortable to get in front of the camera, or maybe your friend already did a few engagement photos for you, but there's just something about photographing a couple before the wedding that makes the day that much smoother.
Love a ring with a story, and this ring definitely has one. It's been in Lauren's family for quite a few generations. Her grandma knew it belonged to Lauren years ago but Lauren was too young. So Grandma, in total Grammy stealth mode, hid the ring in a sewing machine and only told Lauren. When Grandma passed, Lauren called telling her Aunt to look inside the sewing machine. Can you imagine Lauren's aunt's surprise? 😂 Probably the best part of this story is the ring fit Lauren perfectly - no sizing needed. Grandma knew.
Climbing up the sand dunes was so easy for Colby and Lauren. It was not so easy for me. They're both runners though, so I tried to keep that in mind 😂 that and the stunning views we were sure to get!
