Photography session nerves and how I pose my couples
Today I got an email from one of my super sweet brides saying, "I'm so nervous for this weekend! How can I relax a bit??"
I figured this is probably on a LOT of minds as we sit in the thick of engagement session and wedding season. So I am hoping you get something helpful from my response to her:
"It's COMPLETELY normal to be nervous. In fact, I get 100x more nervous for sessions where I'm in front of the camera than sessions where I'm taking the photos! Is there anything in particular that you're nervous for? Send those thoughts my way, and I'll see what I can do!
I know I'm extremely self conscious, so I always get nervous about certain parts of my body not looking how I want them to on camera. That's why I am very involved in the posing aspect for my clients. I'll guide you through everything from what to do with your face to where to put your hands. Sometimes even manually placing your fingers a certain way or fixing a few strands of hair. But there is a lot of movement in my posing too because the candid-style shots are my fave. Through this, I capture you in a flattering yet authentic way.
Let me know what's getting to you in particular, and I'll see if I can help. Just know I will take care of you! My job is to make sure you look your best, and I really love what I do.
Here are some examples of the "flattering yet authentic" posing I am talking about. Sometimes my directions come out in a slew of comments that are, well, interesting without context, but you'll be so wrapped up in the moment, it will just work!
I hope this helps some of you guys and gives you a peek into what you can expect as one of my clients!
